Austrian
food? What
is
this?
Austrian
cuisine, together with that of France, is acknowledged as the most
celebrated. It embraces all the incluences of the former Danube
Monarchy. Thus, beside the old Austrian recipes, there are those of
Bohemian, Hungarian and Italian origin. In the Western provinces
Bavarian and Alemannic influence is also found. But Austrian chefs and
cooks have managed to impart a typically Austrian nuance to all the
dishes they have taken over. Anybody who has once visited Austria,
wherever else in the world he may come across an Apfelstrudel or Wiener
Schnitzel on the menu, will immediately associate these with Austria.
Our
dining card only includes only meals cooked from original historic
recipes from Austria, Europe. Some of those recipes was written down by
hand from my grandmother, Mrs. Maria Backer, in 1904 and earlier.
In

FAQ:
Schnitzel?
I never had
this before, what is this? A Schnitzel is a
slice of meat,
mainly cutted from the leg (ham). Try it - it's good!
Wiener?
Do I get just a sausage? -
No,
you don t get a
sausage. Wien is the austrian Name for Vienna, the capitol city from
Austria. And, the "Wiener sausages", in Vienna (Wien) they call them
"Frankfurter"
Some people ask the
question: Has
the Wiener Schnitzel to been topped with something?. We
as Austrian's say: NO! Nothing! Except a thin slice of lemon, like the
original Wiener Schnitzel in Vienna.
Is
the "Hunter Schnitzel" a breaded Schnitzel with gravy?
Not in Austria. Our
Hunter Schnitzel isn't covered with bread crumbs and deep fried, you
get a carefully cooked Schnitzel, which was roasted in a pan, on top
our delicious mushroom gravy. You will enjoy the
roasting
aromes from the meat in combination with the fine taste from the gravy.
We are sure: As soon you had once our Hunter Schnitzel, you never will
ask such a question.
